ST. JOHN’S, Antigua — Albert Browne, the 18-year-old nephew of Prime Minister Gaston Browne, was murdered tonight in Boobey Alley in the Point area around 8:45 p.m.

Reports indicate that the teenager was with friends when he was shot multiple times about the body.

Browne is the tenth person to be killed in the country for the year.

Glen Browne, the teenager’s father,  told the Antigua Observer that his son was shot in the chest, and he had no idea what could have been the motive for the crime.

“I came over to Point after him and was sitting around the corner near the alley when I heard the shots. I got up and went to check, and saw him lying on the ground in the alley. He never said anything to me,” the father reported.

Prime Minister Browne is currently out of the island, concluding a recent state visit to China.
