As a student from Australia, where i see the humpback whales every year on their migration from the southern waters to Hervey Bay, I am horrified that what i thought was such a sophisticated country (japan) is killing these magnificent creatures and getting away with it. Its completely disgusting and needs to be stopped. Using these animals for food should not be the reason these whales are being slaughtered, they should not be slaughtered for any reson at all!. If the japanese stopped for one second to relise the beauty of these animals, they MIGHT think twice about how much it affects the people who regard these animals as spiritual and benefitial for ones well being. These animals are so magnifficent, and bring tears to people's eyes because they are so magestic. As far as i knew, Antarctica became a sanctuary for whales to have peace while breeding, clearly for the japanese they regard this sanctuary with contempt and continue to slaughter them in the most brutal fashion. All for having whale meat for dinner. I could understand if japan was a country where poverty was a great issue, however it is one of the richest countries in the world!
